Boards & Commissions

The Borough of Conshohocken has a number of Boards and Commissions that have been established either by the Pennsylvania Borough Code and Related Laws, or by Ordinance of the Borough. The various Conshohocken Boards and Commissions are comprised of citizen volunteers that work in cooperation with the Borough. These Boards and Commissions are the Civil Service Commission, Environmental Advisory Council, Human Relations Commission, Municipal Authority, Planning Commission, Vacancy Board and Zoning Hearing Board. Please contact Eleanor Roper at eroper@conshohockenpa.gov or (610) 828-1092 ext. 100 for specific information regarding Boards and Commissions.

Board of Code Appeals

The Borough of Conshohocken Board of Code Appeals is responsible for entertaining, considering, and adjudicating appeals arising from or relating to the State Building Code and the Conshohocken Borough Property Maintenance Code. The Board of Code Appeals consists of three (3) members who are qualified by experience and training to pass on matters pertaining to building, construction, and property maintenance, and who are not employees of the Borough. Borough Council may appoint an alternate member who may be called upon by the Chair of the Board to consider Appeals during the absence or disqualification of a member of the Board.  Alternate members shall possess the same qualifications required for Board Membership.

Civil Service Commission

The Civil Service Commission’s mission is to prescribe, amend and enforce the rules and regulations of the Borough for their police force. All rules and regulations must be first approved by the Borough Council.

Comprehensive Plan Task Force

The purpose of this advisory task force is to work in concert with the Borough Council in reviewing, assessing, and making recommendations regarding achieving sound planning and comprehensive community goals and objectives in accordance with the Pennsylvania Municipalities Planning Code.  The Comprehensive Plan Task Force shall consist of nine (9) members in total however, at this time, Borough Council is requesting applications from interested residents from the following areas of the community: 

  • One (1) Member from a Borough Athletic Association
  • One (1) Member from the Borough’s Senior Community
  • One (1) Member from the Borough’s Business Community
  • One (1) Member from the Borough’s K – 12 Education Community
  • Three (3) Members to be appointed at large

Dog Park Advisory Committee

The purpose of this advisory committee is to work in concert with the Borough Administration in assessing and making recommendations for assuring that the dog park meets the capital and operational needs of the community. The Dog Park Advisory Committee shall consist of no less than three (3) and no more than five (5) members that will be appointed by the Borough Council; at least two (2) members must reside in the Borough in Ward 3, where the dog park is located. 

The Council of the Borough of Conshohocken is now accepting letters of interest, resumes, and applications for the Borough of Conshohocken Dog Park Advisory Committee. Environmental Advisory Council

The purpose of the Environmental Advisory Council (EAC) is to identify environmental problems and recommend plans and programs to the Borough Council, the Planning Commission and other committees and boards of the Borough. The EAC functions to promote the conservation of natural resources, and the protection and improvement of the Borough's environment.

Human Relations Commission

The Human Relations Commission (HRC) enforces Pennsylvania's anti-discrimination laws and promotes equal opportunity. The HRC encourages diverse workplaces, schools and communities where differences are not just tolerated, but celebrated. The HRC investigates complaints of illegal discrimination.

Mary H. Wood Park Commission

The role and responsibly of the Mary H. Wood Park Commission is to have the possession, custody, care and control of said park, its grounds, buildings, structures, equipment, apparatus and property of every description, real or personal, and shall be charged and entrusted with its maintenance and upkeep.

  • They shall at all times supervise, regulate and control the use of said park by the public.
  • All plans and expenditures for maintenance and improvements shall be under their direction and control, provided, however, that an appropriation to cover the cost thereof be first made by Borough Council out of the park fund.
  • They shall employ such officers, agents, and employees and subordinates as they may deem necessary, subject to such appropriations as Borough Council may from time to time make as aforesaid.
  • None of the Park Commissioners, nor any person employed by them, shall have power to create any debt or obligation to bring said Board of Commissioners at a meeting duly convened.

Municipal Authority 

The mission of the Municipal Authority is to acquire, hold, construct, improve, maintain, operate, own, lease, in the capacity of either lessor or lessee, sewers, sewer systems or parts thereof, and sewage treatment works, including works for treatment and disposing of domestic sewage in and for the Borough of Conshohocken and such other territory as it may be authorized to serve.

Planning Commission

The mission of the Planning Commission is to promote, with the greatest efficiency and economy, the coordinated development of the Borough and the general welfare and prosperity of its people; the aim of the Commission shall be to secure the uniform and harmonious growth of the Borough; its prime function shall be to investigate, advise, and recommend with respect to municipal planning.

Vacancy Board

The mission of the Vacancy Board member is to serve with Borough Council to fill a vacancy in an elected office if the Borough Council is unable to fill any vacancy within thirty days.

Zoning Hearing Board

The primary purpose of the Zoning Hearing Board is to grant relief from the literal enforcement of the ordinance in certain hardship situations, and to help assure fair and equitable application and administration of the zoning ordinance by hearing appeals on the zoning officer's determinations.
